WVU Institute of Technology, Department of Civil Engineering (WVU Tech), invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in structural engineering. A Ph. D. in civil engineering or a closely related field is required. Candidates who have completed most of their requirements for a Ph.D. will be considered but an earned doctorate is expected within the first year of employment. A B.S. degree in civil engineering and a M.S. degree (unless enrolled directly in a Ph.D. program after receiving a B.S. degree) in civil engineering or a closely related field are required. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain his/her professional engineering (PE) registration within two years of initial employment. Preferences will be given to registered professional engineers (PE), and to those who have industrial, teaching, or research experience. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate's experience.
The successful candidate will teach general and civil engineering courses in his/her area of expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program in his/her respective area of expertise and pursue research opportunities with the West Virginia Division of Highways, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Appalachian Transportation Institute or similar funding agencies. Other auxiliary duties are expected that are associated with a faculty position in an ABET accredited civil engineering program.
“WVU Tech” is a division of West Virginia University that offers a broad array of programs, including six four-year engineering degrees (BS) in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering and Computer Science Engineering plus four year technology programs (BSET) in Electronic Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology (Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical emphasis) and Industrial Technology.Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
