POSITION  VACANCY

POSITION:  Psychology, full-time, tenure-track faculty position. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Ph.D. in psychology required, ABD considered.  Specialization in developmental and abnormal psychology broadly defined.  Candidates with background in lifespan disorders or developmental disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.  Other desirable attributes include commitment to teaching excellence, responsiveness to student needs, and ability to guide students in practicum and field experiences.  Experience in grant writing and direction of undergraduate research activities are also desirable. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The successful candidate will teach courses in lifespan development, child & adolescent behavior, introductory, research methods, exceptional children, and others based on department need, all primarily for psychology majors.  The candidate may also teach specialized advanced courses as well as perform duties typically associated with college teaching.  Research involving undergraduates is expected.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity.  A willingness to develop and offer web-based courses is desirable. 

PROGRAM:  The Psychology Program is located in the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences.  The program is rapidly growing with currently over 60 majors.  The program focus is an applied psychology curriculum for students to pursue careers working with special needs populations as well as graduate studies.  The program also provides support courses for other university programs such as Nursing.  More details about the program and institution can be found here: http://psychologybhss.wvutech.edu 

WVU TECH:  West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a division of West Virginia University, is a four-year public, residential, co-educational institution located in Montgomery, West Virginia, approximately 30 miles from Charleston. 

SALARY & RANK:  Commensurate with qualifications.
